Program Overview
There are many facets to Thank You Darlin’ Foundation’s Voice2Youth program. Students are inspired to achieve
through poetry, performance and personal development so they can become compassionate well-rounded educated people.
Description
Students are engaged through themes, discussion, journaling,
music, song, dance, free-writing, stretching/breathing, reading out loud,
games, visuals, media, technology and classroom and school performances.
The program culminates with an annual regional slam (poetry writing and performance
competition) during National Poetry Month in April.
Poetry (Fine Arts & Literacy)
Students receive opportunities to showcase their own creativity. Although they study famous poets and authors, The Thank You Darlin’ Foundation is proudly creating a path for new young poets and authors to emerge. Also, students receive additional support they need to become excellent readers, writer and speakers.
Performance
The program is structured to stretch bodies and minds to provide creative outlets for students to have fun while developing their physical fitness, alertness and art appreciation. They learn to express themselves through dance movements, poetry, song, role play and skits.
Personal Development
Proper conduct and high achievement are strongly tied together. Our Voice2Youth program helps students gain knowledge and skills to develop their character, conduct and confidence.
Training and Development Workshops
The success of the TYD Foundation programs is due in part to the training and inspiration of our staff. We offer training workshops for our program so that your staff can implement these proven learning strategies into your school curriculum or organization projects.
